Honoring the vibrant traditions of Cuban culture and dance

  • Wilfredo Guilbiac is a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher with a degree from the prestigious Varietur School of Art in Havana, Cuba. His formal training in Cuban popular and traditional styles such as son, mambo, Afro-Cuban, cha cha cha, and modern dance is complemented by his upbringing on the vibrant streets of Havana.

    During this time, he mastered street dances like Casino (Salsa Cubana), Rueda de Casino, and Rumba. The unique blend of formal education and street experience has shaped him into the versatile dancer he is today.

  • Throughout his career, Wilfredo has been selected to join some of Cuba’s most esteemed dance companies and has represented his country on international stages. He has collaborated with renowned artists and top choreographers, showcasing his talents in various prestigious performances.

    After immigrating to Mexico, Wilfredo founded the first Cuban dance school in Ensenada, Baja California. He choreographed for "Bailando con las Estrellas," as well as other key community dance events.

  • Now based in San Diego, California, Wilfredo has been teaching dance for over ten years through Cubata Dance Company. He has established himself as one of the leading Cuban dance instructors and choreographers on the West Coast. His mission is to spread the richness of Cuban culture around the world, embodying the unique cadence and spirit of his heritage.

    Wilfredo actively participates in dance festivals across the U.S. and abroad, offering workshops and performances that celebrate the essence of Cuban dance.
